Happy Hacking Keyboard Keymap Tool - For HYBRID Type-S and HYBRID Models

The Happy Hacking Keyboard Keymap Tool lets you customize the keymap on HYBRID Type-S and HYBRID models.*  By running this tool, you can also update the firmware on HYBRID Type-S and HYBRID models.

*The keymap customization function is not available for Classic models.

How to Use

  1. Download and install the "Happy Hacking Keyboard Keymap Tool."
  2. Connect your keyboard with a USB cable, and run the "Happy Hacking Keyboard Keymap Tool." Please note, this tool will not run via Bluetooth connection.

*Note, English is set for this tool when the tool is used in an environment that is in an unsupported language.

Firmware

The latest firmware for HYBRID Type-S, HYBRID, and Classic models can be downloaded below. Note, there are two types of firmware, so please download the correct firmware according to your keyboard.

  • HYBRID Type-S and HYBRID (US Layout and Blank Keycaps)
  • Classic

Please note, the Happy Hacking Keyboard Keymap Tool is required when updating the firmware.

How to Update

  1. Download the latest firmware as shown below.
  2. Connect your keyboard with a USB cable, and run the "Happy Hacking Keyboard Keymap Tool."
  3. Click "Updating the firmware."
  4. Click "Read the firmware" and select the firmware file downloaded in Step 1.
  5. Click "Write to HHKB."

It takes about five minutes to update the firmware. Please don’t let your computer go into sleep mode during the update.
